Out-of-State Transfer Student Scholarships (for students entering the Fall of 2020)

Welcome to the Panther Family! Below are some scholarship opportunities awarded to Out-of-State Transfer Students entering UNI Fall 2020.  Students are considered for these scholarships upon their admission to UNI and must be enrolled full-time each semester.  

UNI Advantage Award: All out-of-state transfer students receive an automatic $5,000 UNI Advantage Award upon Admission to UNI! This scholarship is renewable by maintaining continuous, full-time enrollment and good academic standing.  

 

Students must have at least 30 transferable credits (after high school) to be eligible for any of the following scholarships. 

Transfer Scholars Award: This $1,000 scholarship is available for one year to transfer students with at least 30 transferable hours (after high school graduation) with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Students starting in the summer will receive their scholarship the consecutive fall and spring semester.

Transfer Success Award: This $1,000 scholarship is for students who qualified for the Transfer Scholars Award in their first year at UNI, are Pell Grant eligible, completed 24 hours or more during their first two semesters at UNI through continuous, full-time enrollment, and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Out-of-State Legacy Scholar Award: This $4,000 ($2,000 per year over two years) scholarship is awarded if a parent, grandparent of sibling graduated from UNI or a sibling is currently enrolled at UNI. Can be received in addition to receiving other Transfer scholarships (stackable). Student must maintain out-of-state residency for continued eligibility. 

UNI-T.E.D. Scholarship (UNIfying Through Excellence & Diversity): is awarded to new out-of-state, transfer students after admission and has two levels. Can be received in addition to receiving other Transfer scholarships (stackable). To qualify, students must have at least 30 transferrable credits (after high school) and must meet one of the following criteria with a GPA requirement:

  • From a traditionally underrepresented population (African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Alaskan Native or American Indian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, or Multiracial) OR

  • Have participated in a TRIO program.

  • $6,000 ($3,000 per year for two years), minimum GPA of 3.0

  • $4,000 ($2,000 per year for two years), minimum GPA of 2.5

RaiseMe for Community College Transfers: UNI is unique, in that we're currently the only public university in Iowa offering transfer scholarships through RaiseMe.  Through RaiseMe for Community College Students, students hoping to transfer from a community college to UNI can earn incremental scholarships during their time at community college.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarships: Must complete a PTK Transfer Scholarship Confirmation form, available online: Admissions Forms. This $1,000 may be renewed for a second year if a student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and continuous, full-time enrollment at UNI.  Students are encouraged to submit their PTK scholarship form by March 1, as funds are limited. No PTK Scholarships will be awarded after the start of the semester.

All-USA Academic Team Award: This $5,000 scholarship is renewable for a second year with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and continuous, full-time enrollment. Send a copy of your All-USA Academic Team award certificate or confirmation letter to:
